CHOIR OF YOUNG BELIEVERS SERIOUS LOVER

An ominous sounding intro built from urgent synth stabs, robotic gurgles and haunting midi echoes soon gives way to the moonlit vocal of Danish multi-instrumentalist and one man 80s-esque electronic pop show, Jannis Noya Makrigiannis, aka Choir of Young Believers. His vocal brings to mind Neil Tennant of Pet Boys fame, although at the same time exists entirely in its own smoke machine cloud. 'Serious Lover' ventures beyond the decisively retro with its experimental leanings and the sax solo is killer, providing a dazzling insight into Makrigiannis' forthcoming album, Grasque, which comes out on Ghostly in February. If you're planning on driving anywhere late at night, take this song with you. -AW
